Secretly, I'm Anna

Hello Pretties!

As much as I would love to be able to say that I am Elsa from Frozen, with her emotional angst about being a good girl, wanting to be free and being scared of things getting out of control, I think I may be a bit more of Anna. I mean, I definitely struggle with some of the stuff Elsa struggles with, but don't we all?

But some of my embarrassing moments are embarrassing enough, that they definitely put me in the "Anna" category. :P

So! I've decided to share with you some of my top Embarrassing moments. If you're having a bad day and feel like you're potentially the most awkward human being that ever lived, I'm about to prove you wrong. And if you're having a wonderful day, I hope these will make you chuckle.

1. I was playing a big game called Gorgon with a large group of people one evening. I was running and someone pushed me from the side. I tripped but kept running, trying to maintain my balance, kinda looking like a football player, with my head down. I wasn't looking where I was going and managed to headbutt a guy in the crotch.

2. I was on a recreational baseball team during the summer for a few years. One night I was unfortunate enough to have to be back catcher. I put on the padding and the helmet and went to stand behind home base. The helmet smelled awful. It smelled like walnuts, but sweaty walnuts... if you can imagine what sweaty walnuts smell like. The inning ended and I returned to the dugout. To my team, mainly made up of teenage guys, I proclaimed loudly in disgust, "The helmet smells like nuts!" My whole team burst out laughing. They spent the rest of the evening asking how I knew what nuts smelled like.

3. My little brother was questioning one of my guy friends about what instruments he could play, asking if he sang opera. My friend replied, "Yeah, in the shower." For some reason, the "in the shower" part didn't register in my head and I snorted, saying "I would pay money to see that.", thinking of him singing opera. Cue awkward moment where he's looking at me awkwardly and I'm confused as to why everything got awkward. Then everything sunk in and I spent the next five minutes trying to explain that I didn't want to see him in the shower.

4. My uncle owns a skateboard shop, but in his skateboard shop, he has a mini... skate park thing? It has two hills, next to each other. I dunno what you call them, I'm not a skateboarding person. I decided to try and see if I could go down one of the hills. I chose a skateboard from the wall, lined it up and began to go down it. Everything went fine until I began to go back up the other side. My skateboard flew, I'm not exaggerating, out from under my feet, across the room and hit the other wall. As previously stated, I'm not a skateboarding person.

5. A few months ago, I went to go see Frozen with a group of my cousins. It came to the part where Hans has to kiss Anna. The whole theatre is silent, on the edge of their seats. Hans leans in and then says "Oh Anna, if only there was someone who loved you!" I don't know why I found it so surprising,  but for some reason, I was completely taken off guard and my cousin and I gasped so loudly that the people around turned to look at us, glaring and shhing us. *Ducks head and hides in shame.*

6. My friend and I went over to one of guy friend's houses for dinner with his parents. We arrive, walk into the dining room and all sit down. Of course, with my luck, I manage to sit on a lightbulb. Yes, you read that correctly, a lightbulb. There was a little lightbulb on my chair. It broke, they realized what had happened and began to apologize profusely and ask if I was all right. But the night doesn't end there. Afterwards, we all went to get ice cream and I managed to drip it allll down my shirt. My guy friend's mum was like, "Oh! We can get the stains out for you!" I didn't realize she meant she was going to take my shirt and wash it. So I spent the rest of the evening in my friend's oversized, plaid, dress shirt.

I hope these have brightened your day and made you feel a little better. We all have incredibly awkward moments, it's just about moving on and learning to laugh at them. Do you have any incredibly embarrassing moments?

Time And Relative Dimensions in Blogging

Hello Lovelies!!

I'm sorry I haven't been present in the blogosphere over the past weekish. I had what I thought was a cold and it wasn't going away so we went to the doctor's and they told me it was bronchitis.

Lovely.

I've been given instructions to drink lots of tea with honey, which I don't really mind. Because tea is awesome.

Warning, this is going to be a very gif-tastic post. :)

Continuing with Alphabet Soup, we come to the letter "D". I feel like I'm about to start singing a song on Sesame Street, but fear not! I have something much cooler than that.

DEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH
DOOOOOOOOOO DOOOOOOOOOO DOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DOOOOOOOOO DOOOOOO DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOHHHHHHHH
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOO
DOOOOO DOOOO DOOOO DOOOO DOOOO DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dododododo
aaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
OOOOOOHEEEEEEEEOHHHHHHHH
DOO DOOO DOOO DODODOOOO
DOOOOOOOOOOOOO DODODODOOOOO
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DODODODO DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
WOOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOH
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about and think I may have just had a seizure, that was the Doctor Who theme song!! I am a very, very dedicated Whovian. My mom was a Whovian before me so I come by it honestly.

All of the Doctors to date.

Doctor Who is a British TV show that started in the 60s. It stars a man called "The Doctor". Except he's not actually a man. *Gasps!* He's a Time Lord! A Time Lord is an alien from Gallifrey who can travel anywhere in time and space.
Literally.
This is the TARDIS.

He has this machine called the TARDIS, which stands for "Time And Relative Dimensions In Space", and he travels in it. He goes back and forth in time and he travels to all different types of planets. When he's about to die, he "regenerates," meaning he gets a new body, kinda cheating death.
He also travels with companions, who are people he meets on his travels. You meet all sorts of people. Funny people. Sassy people. Swagtastic people. Sad people. Annoying people. Kind people. People who aren't even people.
Donna Noble.

Rose Tyler.

Rory Williams.

Martha Jones.

Captain Jack Harkness.

Amy Pond.

River Song

Clara Oswin Oswald.

It is literally the epicest television show ever, for a few reasons.
1. It's British. Need I say more?
2. David Tennant is the best Doctor ever.

Gets excited easily.
Adorably adorable.
Slightly sassy
And just kinda random.
3. It has super creative writing. Or did. Until Moffat decided to kill everyone.

4. It can make you feel everything from excitement, to hate, to love, to sadness in about 10 minutes.

5. You can watch it with pretty much everyone, your Grandma, your little brother, those kids you babysit; it's fairly clean.

6. The fandom is awesome.

7. It will make you want to buy a bowtie, some converse and give you the strongest desire to bring bananas to parties.

8. The villans are epic. :)
Daleks. I'm sorry to any Whovians reading this! I couldn't
find an "exterminate" gif. :(

Cybermen. "DELETE DELETE DELETE"
The Master, the Doctor's childhood enemy.

The weeping angels.

I hope you've enjoyed this post and are now wanting to watch Doctor Who. Any fellow Whovians out there? Or have I just alienated about everyone? Pun totally intended. :)

Love you all! See you later!

I've been flushed from the bathroom of your heart

Hello Peoples!

Here we are again, on this lovely Wednesday. Actually, not so lovely. I'm still sick and it's all gloomy outside. If it was raining, I could forgive the grey, cold weather outside.

But it's not. Therefore no forgiving for the grey clouds.

So! I'm going to talk about something I particularly like today for the alphabet soup challenge (name courtesy of Aliology).

Country Music!

I don't know about you, but I feel like country music gets a lot of flack. People are constantly like "Country music is just about beer and guitars and random hook-ups in the back of a pick up truck." Or some people don't like it because the only country music they've ever heard is Taylor Swift, who in my mind isn't particularly country. Sorry Taylor, wearing brown boots and carrying an acoustic guitar on the front of your albums does not make you country.

So I'm making a stand for country music today!! :) I'm going to show you some of my favourite country songs and then you can decide for yourself.

1. Temporary Home (Carrie Underwood)

One of my favourite things about country music is the picture the lyrics create. This song definitely succeeds in telling a beautiful stories. I love the melody, I love the lyrics, I love the overall message. This is just a really lovely song.

2. Stand (Rascal Flatts)

This song is one of my country power songs. It's all about standing back up after you've been pushed down. It's for when you're tired of taking all the sh*t that everyone throws at you, and you refuse to take it any longer. When you're going through the "storms of life" and you feel like you'll never be able to get back up again, this is a good song to listen to. There's great imagery, and although it does have a bit more of a "twangy", country feel to it, Rascal Flatts is a country genius.

3. That Don't Impress Me Much (Shania Twain)

Haha, there was a period of time when I listened to this song on repeat. Constantly. Every time I turned my ipod on. Not so much because I actually believed the lyrics but because I desperately wanted to believe the lyrics. There was this guy I liked and I was so desperate not to like him and, looking back it's actually kinda funny, because I'd sing this song at the top of lungs, trying to convince myself that he didn't "impress me much."Anyways, this song is about a guy who thinks he's so original and cool because he's got the looks or the stuff or the brains and the girl is saying, as the title states, "That Don't Impress Me Much".

4. Glass (Thompson Square)

I really like this song, it makes me happy. It's probably my favourite country love song. Again, the lyrics are beautifully emotive. I actually discovered this song while watching videos on youtube for Scarecrow and Mrs. King. Fans of 80s comedy spy shows represent! Woop, woop! I feel like this song isn't quite as country as the other songs but it's still really, really nice.

5. Take A Back Road (Rodney Atkins)

Kay, so this one is a kind of stereotypical country song but it's just so catchy! :) For someone who lives in the city who dreams of living in the country, it's a fairly relatable song. Surprisingly enough, my math teacher who is the boringest person on earth, who only talks in monochrome tones, who doesn't understand what he's teaching, showed our class this song. And it's been stuck in my head for the past three days so I had to include this song in this list.

6. Check Yes or No (George Strait)

This is a golden oldy. Like 80s golden oldy. It's really cute. It's about this couple who started liking each other in third grade and it all started with a little note and how their relationship grew throughout the years.

7. My Wish (Rascal Flatts)

Another Rascal Flatts song, I know. But he's just so awesome! This song is another beautifully written piece. It's about wanting the best for another person, hoping that they have a great life and that they always remember someone loves them. One of the reasons I love this song is because it's not necessarily a love song. I mean, it's obviously a song about love, but I could picture myself singing it to my little brother, or my Mum singing it to my sister, or even someone singing it to their best friend. It's a beautiful song and it's been one of my favourites for many years.

8. It's Five O'Clock Somewhere (Alan Jackson)

This was of the songs that my family would crank in the car every time it came on the radio. It's another kind of stereotypical country, but it's a good one. It's one of those songs that's not necessarily deep or emotional but a fun, upbeat happy song.

9. Whatever You Do, Don't (Shania Twain)

This was the other song that I listened to on repeat for a period of time. It went hand and hand with "That Don't Impress Me Much". It's about seeing that one guy that you really like and knowing that every little thing he does gets to you. I really liked it because the girl in the song wasn't like, "Oh, why don't you like me? I'm in love with you and it feels so wonderful and we're going to live happily ever after." Instead, she was really frustrated at herself for liking him and the guy for acting the way he did. I was really able to relate to it for a while. xD Lots of belting it loudly and off key.

So that's it for my country playlist! Hope you enjoyed it. :)

Are you a fan of country music? Or is it worse than going to the dentist? Have any country songs in mind that I didn't mention? Leave a comment and let me know! :)

By the way, the title of the post is from an odd, country Johnny Cash song. :)

I really like this necklace! Does anyone know where I'd look for something like this?

Book Boyfriends Tag

Hello Earthlings!

My apologizes for not posting friday, I was away at a conference from thursday morning to saturday night and couldn't get to computer. I hope you've all been having a lovely Easter! Unfortunately, I've been sick (again) with a cold/cough and sound like a robotic frog.

Today is the next post of the Alphabet Challenge! Woop! Woop! And today's letter is 'B'. Over on the lovely Andrea's blog, Sempiternal Reader, she did a Book Boyfriend Tag and I thought, "Great idea! I can do that tag for my challenge." So today's topic is going to be my top five Book Boyfriends in no particular order.

1. Minho (The Maze Runner)

Minho is from James Dashner's book series "The Maze Runner" and he is just... gahh. He's one of the runners in the Glade so he's quite brave. He's super sarcastic, which I find to be a particularly attractive trait in fictional characters. Although he has a bit of a rough exterior, he has friends that he cares about who he will occasionally show his emotions to. I can't wait for the movie to come out in September. I really, really, really hope that they portray him well.

1. “Minho looked at Thomas, a serious expression on his face. "If I don't see you on the other side," he said in a sappy voice, "remember that I love you.”

2. “Shouldn't someone give a pep talk or something?" Minho asked, pulling Thomas's attention away from Alby.

"Go ahead" Newt replied.

Minho nodded and faced the crowd. "Be careful," he said dryly.
"Don't die.”

"Great. We're all bloody inspired." Newt said.”

2. Gilbert Blythe (Anne of Green Gables)

I love Gilbert. :) He's really very cute and loyal. I love the way that he didn't give up on Anne, even after she snubbed him time and time again. He can be a bit cheeky at times and he's definitely the boy next door type of guy. He has dreams for his future and he'll stop at nothing to get them. He's very kind and helpful. Basically the perfect guy. I guess I'd get bored of him in real life but he's wonderful in the book.

"He was a tall boy, with curly brown hair, roguish hazel eyes, and a mouth twisted into a teasing smile."

3. Gale Hawthorne (The Hunger Games)
*Minor Book Spoilers

This guy is probably my favourite right now. He's even more "gahh" than Minho in my humblest opinion. He's really brave and he's a natural leader. I mean, when he rescues those people when District 12 is being bombed?? Or when he takes the whipping in the square? Even the end of the third book did nothing to stop the love I have for this character. He is Katniss's faithful friend through and through. He's like ALWAYS there for her, always. He loves her so much and he encourages her throughout her time. He really is her support system. He's loyal and helpful to everyone around him. He helps in leading the rebellion and he isn't afraid to stand up for what it right. I was quite pissed when Katniss ended up marrying Peeta. Peeta was a wimp.

"Okay, listen to me, you're stronger than they are. You are." (Gale to Katniss)

4. Four (Divergent)
*Minor Book Spoilers.

Kay, when I say Four, I really mean just Four. Not Tobias. I didn't like Tobias at all. Four on the other hand is strong. He's been through a lot and knows that life is hard. He knows that he must work hard to survive. He has a protective side that comes out around Tris. He fights hard for justice and is just really cool. I love the way Tris and Four's relationship develops in the first book but I don't like the second one. Four also isn't afraid to speak his mind, which is something I love in fictional characters.

I still haven't seen the movie!! :(

1. “Okay. Then...I can talk. Ask me something."
"Okay." He laughs shakily in my ear. "Why is your heart racing Tris?"
I cringe and say, "Well, I...I barely know you. I barely know you and I'm crammed up against you in a box, Four, what do you think?"...
"Maybe you were cut out for Candor," he says, "because you're a terrible liar.”

2. “We've all started to put down the virtues of the other factions in the process of bolstering our own. I don't want to do that. I want to be brave, and selfless, and smart, and kind, and honest." He clears his throat. "I continually struggle with kindness.”

5. Mr. Darcy (Pride & Prejudice)

This guy's a classic. He's a true gentleman, but has a bit of a brooding, mysterious side to him. I love his banter with Elizabeth and the way they communicate. He really loves his sister and his friend Mr. Bingley and will do anything to protect them. Even if he doesn't show it very often, he does care about the people around him.

I'm tagging everyone who's reading this to do this tag! :D
Also, if you're liking the Alphabet Challenge, you should head over to Aliology, cause she's doing it too!
Hope you enjoyed this post, I hope to see you all wednesday! :D

Song of the Day
I thought this would be appropriate. :)

Day One Of the Alphabet Challenge!

Hello Lovely Peoples!

Welcome to the first post of the alphabet challenge (which I have decided is an incredibly stupid title that sounds like it would appear on sesame street, any brilliant ideas for a new name?)! For those of you who didn't see my last post, I'll briefly recap.

Basically, for the next 26 posts, each post topic will start with the next letter of the alphabet. This doesn't necessarily mean that the title of the post will start with the letter, only that the topic begins with the letter. I can't use adjectives as the letter for my topic unless that actually matter. "Favourite Condiments To Put On Hotdogs" would be okay because it's specifically favourites, but "Amazing Hairstyles" would not be okay. So today would start with the letter 'A', Friday post will start with 'B' etc. etc.  I think that's it.

Starting things off, today's topic is 20th Century Fox's Anastasia!!

This movie is one of my top five favourite cartoon movies. And that's saying something since I love so many cartoon movies. It has a great relationship that isn't sickening sweet where they fall in love at first side, a great soundtrack, an entertaining villain and feel good feeling at the end. Pretty much nothing like the actual story of Anastasia. :P

Plot Overview

The story starts at a ball in the palace with Anastasia and her family when Anastasia. That evening, the palace is attacked and her entire family except her grandmother is killed in a fire, started by the villian Rasputin. She gets separated from her grandmother and grows up not knowing who she is. Ten years later, she decides to try and find out who is she is, following the only clue she has, which is a necklace that says, "Together in Paris". So she goes to Paris. All this time, the grandmother has been looking for her grand-daughter, offering a huge reward for whoever can find her. Meanwhile, there are these two con men, Vlad and Dimitri who are trying to find a girl who can play the part of Anastasia so they can get the money. Then they run into Anastasia and get her to play the part, but no one knows who she actually is. Dimitri and Anastasia constantly clash. As she is being taught how to be Anastasia, she starts to remember things, without knowing why she is remembering these things. Meanwhile, Rasputin has found out Anastasia is still alive and is trying to find ways to kill her. And because I am awful at cliffhangers and trying to trail things off so I don't spoil anything, I'm going to not say anything else and stop here. :)

Dimitri and Anastasia

Kay, I shipped these two before I even knew what shipping was. I was never someone to like the easy, love-at-first-sight relationships. I love, love, love, love the couples that start off hating each other and then slowly get to know each other and kinda start to fall for each other and then actually fall in love with each other. Han and Leia. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. Anne and Gilbert. And so many more.

Dimitri and "Anya" are one of these couples. I love their banter and their slow journey from despising each other's guts to being in love. They just, I just, gahh. And it helps that Dimitri is attractive too. :)

Villains

Like I said, the villains in this movie are quite entertaining. The main villain, Rasputin, is perfectly evil. Imagine a rotting Jafar. And like in most cartoon movies, he has the best song. Why is that? Why do the bad guys have the coolest, most intense songs?

The villain's sidekick, Bartok, is really one of the best comedic relief characters ever. He's like one of those sidekicks that really isn't evil, just adorable.

Anastasia's Character

I actually love the character of Anastasia in this movie. She's not like most cartoon/disney princesses. She's smart and knows her way around. She's inquisitive and curious. She doesn't fall for Dimitri right away. She speaks sass and sarcasm fluently. She's strong and brave, but isn't afraid to feel emotion or admit to being weak. I think we need more cartoon princesses like her.

So there was A! I hope you enjoyed my rave. I strongly encourage you to watch this movie if you haven't already. It's one of my all time favourites and really amazing. :)

Until next time!
