Sounds Good Feels Good - My Review

Hello Lovelies!

So, if you're like me and may or may not be part of the 5SOS fam, then you know that they may or may not have released a beautiful masterpiece a little while back. And if you're like me, you may or may not have sobbed and laughed and been ridiculously proud all at the same time. So! If after reading that description and you've decided that you ARE in fact like me, then stick around, because I'm about to dive head first into the Sounds Good Feels Good album. I'll list my favourites in the order they appear on the album.

1. Permanent Vacation

This one seriously reminds me of the song "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" by Alan Jackson. It's got the whole, "Screw what people say. I'm doing things my way and I'm taking a break" vibe going on. It's fun. It's peppy. It's upbeat. But it's definitely a step up from She Looks So Perfect.

2. Waste the Night

In my humble opinion, I think the best part of this song is the chorus and the interlude. It's kind of sappy, I'm not going to lie, but I still like it. It's about needing someone's love and not wanting to make the same mistakes as last time by leaving them. Last time they wasted the night and they don't want to do that this time. The interlude is just pretty. I have no idea what they're saying, but it's pretty.

3. Castaway

This one probably has the rockiest vibe on the album, even if it's not the heaviest. The lyrics do nothing for me really, I just love the beat, especially in the pre-chorus. The pre-chorus lyrics are pretty good too actually, so I retract my statement. They're about how someone left them with nothing but empty picture frames. It's got a vibe of another band, but I can't quite place it. Anyone have any ideas?

4. Broken Home

I could go on for ages about the beauty and pain in this song. And I'm pretty sure like many other people, it took me a few times before I could listen to it without breaking down and sobbing. It's about a girl who's grew up in a home where her parents were always fighting and screaming and she was dying. She's looking back on her time there and it still hurts. The chorus, ugh, the chorus. I'm tearing up as I think about it now. It's her talking directly to her parents. It saddens me to think about just how many people can relate to this song. Even if you aren't a 5SOS fan, listen to this song. It's really beautiful and real.

"Hey mum, hey dad
When did this end?
Where did you lose your happiness?
I'm here alone inside of this broken home
Who's right, who's wrong
Who really cares?
The fault, the blame, the pain's still there
I'm here alone inside of this broken home, this broken home"

5. Invisible

Yet another beautifully written song. Man, these guys really surprised me with the depth in their lyrics this time around. I mean, I knew they were good writers, but we went from them writing songs like Don't Stop, to this. This song is about not knowing who you are and being torn between your dreams. The chorus is, "Who am I? Who am I when don't know myself?" I don't know, it's a very relatable song, especially when you're having to choose between stuff that you love. And the violins at the end are just gorgeous.

6. Airplanes

Michael. Just Michael. He's on fire in this song and I'm so proud of him and he sounds so good. My Dad listened to this and said it reminded him of a band he listened to growing up, so that gives you an idea of the vibe. It's really cool. It's totally different than anything they'd written before. It's a very lyrical song. In a weird way, it kind of reminds me of Mary Poppins? I don't know. Just listen to the song.

What were your favourites??

May I freak out yet?

Hello Lovelies!

Agha blagha boo! There is so much new music coming out over the next two months and I cannot physically contain my excitement!

So first Marianas Trench was like, "Hey! We've got a new album coming out on October 23!" And I was like:

And then 5SOS was like, "Would you like a heart attack? Our new album also comes out on the 23rd." And I was like:

THEN! Hedley was like, "While recovering from your heart attack, listen to our new music on November 6th."

And One Direction thinks it'll then be funny to release their FIRST ALBUM WITHOUT Zayn on the 13th.

And they're all like "PREORDER! PREORDER! PREORDER! PREORDER!"

And I'm like:

May I freak out yet?

The Soundtrack of My Life Tag

Hello Lovelies,

So I was doing some looking through blogs recently, just scrolling through the internet. And I came across a blog called "chimera" and she did this tag called "The Soundtrack of My Life" tag. I'm sure you know by now, I love anything to do with music and this looked really interesting so I figured I'd do it! And I'd love to see your guys' answers! Looking at other people's music always makes me really happy!

1. Songs you listen to when you’re happy?

I have a few songs that are my happy songs that I listen to when I'm in a great mood. A few of those are "Waiting for Superman" by Daughtry, "Mrs. All American" by 5 Seconds of Summer, "Dance With Me Tonight" by Olly Murs, "Don't" by Ed Sheeran, and "Desperate Measures" by Marianas Trench. There are tons more, but those are my happy songs right now. When I'm in a good mood, I love listening to music with a good beat that's pop-y and happy. Something I can dance and jam to and sing loudly with the windows down.

2. Songs you listen to when you’re sad?

I don't know if I listen to music when I'm sad or mad more. But I think when I'm generally like that, the songs I listen to are "Backseat Serenade" by All Time Low, "Familiar Taste of Poison" by Halestorm, "Don't" by Ed Sheeran (yes, I know that one's on my happy list as well), "Give Me Love" by Ed Sheeran, and "Don't Let Me Go" by Harry Styles (I know this isn't actually an official song, but I may or may not have downloaded it off of youtube). I guess, looking at this list, lots of songs about being alone. I wonder what that says about me...

3. What was the last song you listened to?

The last song I listened to was "English Love Affair" by 5 Seconds of Summer. I love that song.

4. What’s the most musically involved you have ever been?

Well, I've been in my fair share of singing recitals and I've been in a few plays, but I think the most musical thing I've been involved with is something I'm currently involved with, which is recording my own EP! Which I'm insanely excited about.

5. Name four or more flawless albums.

Ooh, this is tough! Hmm, I'd have to say Baptized by Daughtry is definitely one. That album is just beautifulness. X by Ed Sheeran. And Ed Sheeran is flawless too so I love that one. 5 Seconds of Summer by 5 Seconds of Summer (10 points for originalness boys). And their live album, LIVESOS is truly flawless.  Oh! And of course! An album I grew up on, Come On Over by Shania Twain, love that album. Hmm, what else... I quite like FOUR by One Direction, although I don't know if I'd call it "flawless".

6. What is your favourite movie soundtrack?

Hands down, Anne of Green Gables OST. Hands down, 100%, no debate. That soundtrack makes me feel... things. And I love this gif. :)

7. What was your last musical “phase” before you wisened up?

Alright, I'm not gonna lie, this is still pretty
hot.
Oh dear, definitely One Direction. And I don't just mean, I liked their music. I mean, I would reblog pictures of Harry Styles' arms or Zayn's pout. I would get chills when they'd sing "Rock Me" because that was the raunchiest song they had. I still like their music, but oh my word, I was truly obsessed. *Hangs head in shame*

8. What’s your “guilty pleasure” that you hate to admit to liking?
Hmm, I actually don't know about this one. I don't really feel like I have a "guilty pleasure". I mean, it's always hard to admit to liking these guys:

Or these guys:

It's just hard admitting it to music snobs, who many of my friends, God bless them, are.

9. Song that makes you lose your shit at a party?

Pfft, definitely Anaconda. ;) Shaking my little, white behind all over the place. No but seriously, I have no clue. I don't even know what type of music is played at...gulp... parties. I mean, my type of parties are Disney karaoke or Doctor Who fests. So, according to my sort of party, I'm gonna have to go with Make a Man Out of You. 'Cause when that song comes on, errbody better move outta my way because I know all the actions to it and I even know the Doctor Who version. Don't. Mess. With. Me.

10. Song you play on your headphones when out and about?

Usually "September" by Daughtry or some sort of All Time Low.

I hope you enjoyed that! I know I certainly did.

Until the next time we communicate via our screens!

Derpcon and the Proper Reveal of Me

Hello Lovelies,

So, I didn't win Derpcon. :( To be completely honest, I wasn't expecting to, so I wasn't that disappointed. But, I think some of my other costumes were actually pretty creative so I figured I'd at least share some of them with you! :)
Today I'm Platinum. With the ability to win anyone
a Platinum record, I'm exploring strange new
keeks, seeking out new fans and hopefully
going where no 5SOS fan has gone before.

Sick of boring tea party after boring tea party? Fear not, the
Rad Hatter is on her way! Bringing fun to good
girls everywhere, she'll turn any event into a party!

I'm Co-Z. So chill, I make Canada look hot.

And here's pictures of me NOT as a superhero so you know that I don't usually look like this.

Staring into the DEPTHS OF YOUR SOUL.

Happy hat.

Shameless selfies?

Well, so that was a lot of pictures of me. I apologize to your eyeballs.

Song of the Day - Just the Way I'm Not by All Time Low

When I was about thirteen, my friend introduced me to All Time Low and I thought, "Oh my goodness! These guys are amazing!" And in true Sarah fashion, I then proceeded to completely forget about them. And then last week or so, I found them again and have been listening to about eight of their songs on repeat. This one is currently my favourite out of the eight. Enjoy!

Derpcon Day 1 Entry

Hello Lovelies!!

This is just going to be a short, itsy bitsy, leetle post today. The contest for Derpcon in Canada was posted and I'm really, really excited and really, really nervous. Between now and the 27th, we have to upload an original superhero costume to Instagram. We can post one original picture a day.
And I thought I would show you my costume for today cause I'm actually pretty proud of it. :)

Realizing that this is the first time you guys actually get to see my face, I should probably just clarify that my hair is not usually this colour.

So this is me as Kaleidoscope! Go me!

Tomorrow is going to be a metallic alien called 'Platinum'....

BAM!

Hello Lovelies!

Long time, no see! Gotta love the craziness of the beginning of the school year. These last few weeks have just been hectic. I was sick with a nasty virus for a week, then I was in Belleville helping my mum help my Grandpa who's currently in the hospital. Then my songwriting class that I'm teaching started up. You get the gist.

I could write a completely random post right now, with tons of little stories of life and completely unrelated thoughts that would probably make no sense, but I decided to have pity on your brains and not confuse you to death. Go me!

Instead, I'm going to do a posting on the fall fair I went to just a little while back. And get this... they had a demolition derby. It was so cool and my brother may have been just a little bit scared of me. I may or may not have gotten really into it and started yelling at the drivers... oops.

So without further rambling, enjoy the pictures!

This turkey was so fat and it was one of the funniest things
ever. It looked like one of those fluffy pillows with a beak.

Ducky!

Isn't he adorable? I just wanted to take him home with me
and keep him forever. Maybe put him in my bath tub...

Chitty chitty bang bang we love you... luckly this was not
one of the cars they destroyed later that afternoon.
Kay, before you look at the next pictures, I just want to say that I have over 300 pictures of the demolition derby so y'all better appreciate that I narrowed it down to five. ;)

Boom!

Crash!

Bam!

Pow! (I should seriously do the little action bubbles in
comic books, I know all the words).

OOOH! Look at the air that one car got!

I love pumpkins. I love pumpkin flavoured and pumpkin
pie and roasted pumpkin seeds and jack'o'lanterns. I love
the fact that the pumpkin's just like, "Hey, I'm orange
and I'm cool and there's nothing you can do about it.
Excuse me whilst I go be awesome and sit on this hay bale
and be orange. Bam"

My brother called this the punk sheep. I had taken it upon
myself to name it Michael Clifford. You're welcome.

I really like this picture. It just feels so small towny and cute.
I have no idea who the guy and girl are in the plaid holding
the cotton candy and drink, but thank you for looking
so cute in my fall fair picture.

Ferris wheel! I like this picture too...

My wonderful father, who I love dearly, decided
that he wanted to photograph my brother and I
on the Ferris Wheel. Every time we would come
around to where he was standing, he'd take a picture.
So I have like ten pictures of my brother and I doing
super weird faces.
I only just now realized that you guys have never actually seen a picture of my face, haha. Here I am thinking, "Yeah, they all know what I look like," but you don't. Unless you're creepy and stalked me and somehow found my house and therefore know what I look like. Or you actually know me outside of the interweb. Do you guys want a picture of my face? I can call it...(dramatic pause)... "The Reveal" DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNN.

Oh and 5SOS fans out there, DERPCON?!??!! *Internally freaks out*

Quote of the Day

That's one of the great things about music. You can sing a song to 85,000 people and they'll sing it back for 85,000 different reasons. - Dave Grohl

Cute and hot at the same time? Is that even possible?

Hello Lovelies,

So, I'm back at school now.

Joy.

Actually, it's not that bad so far. I'm taking a creative writing course, a generic english course and philosophy.

But that's not the point of this post. I should probably warn you, if you have no interest in 5SOS, you may want to stop reading now. Cause this post is gonna include some pretty heavy fangirling.

I watched their iTunes Festival today. I just.... I can't... excuse my tumblrness, but... THE FEELS!!

They were just incredible, and so attractive and so adorable and just... Gah!!

I mean this is just...

And this and

I think I may have lost the ability to breathe... just saying. Someone fetch me a paper bag.
And I mean, ignoring the fact that they were all incredibly attractive and sweaty and just... yeah, they actually performed super well as well! I mean, End Up Here was just amazing and so was Long Way Home and What I Like About You and I am personally biased to Good Girls so I will always think that song is amazing, even if it were sung by a tone deaf grandmother.

I loved it. I've decided that I'm gonna have to save up to see them live next summer, even if it costs me a billion bucks. Okay, well maybe not a billion, but you get the gist.

How can someone be so adorable and so hot at the same time? It just doesn't seem fair! One thing I noticed and have noticed for a bit now, is how different they are at their own shows. When I went to see them when they performed with One Direction, they were fairly clean, their music was played in a more pop-y fashion, they lost the piercings and just appeared more boyband-y. Watching them perform on their own, it was like watching a whole different band. Tattoos showing, piercings in, why not talk about your experiences drunk underage and throw a bird at the camera every once in a while? Personally, I like the less clean 5SOS better. I dunno, it seems way more... them. I find it kinda funny that One Direction has taken four years to even imply a swear word in their songs, yet 5 Seconds of Summer swears right in their first single whilst talking about how great the girl looks in his underwear.

Well this has been lovely, but it is past midnight where I am and I have to get up at seven tomorrow. Good night all! Ta ta for now! :)

And We Danced All Night To The Best Song Ever...

Hello Lovelies!

My apologies for my absence, the last few weeks have been hectic! I had a wonderful friend over from Quebec for a week, I had another friend who was back from camp for a week and wanted to see me and I went up to visit my Grandparents.

However, by far the most exciting thing was going to see One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer down in Toronto. My cousin and I had been waiting since February to see them and the day finally came. It was incredible, probably one of the best nights of my life to date.

It wasn't just getting to see the biggest pop stars live, it wasn't just the music, it was the energy in the stadium. Everyone was so excited to be there, everyone knew the words to every song and everyone was having a blast. It was really cool to be a part of 56,000 people all there for the same thing you were.

Here was the stadium during Little Things. It was truly a beautiful sight, everyone with their lights, swaying to the time of the music.

And here's the stadium with the lights during Best Song Ever.

I loved it! The boys all joked in between songs and interacted with fans. Harry stopped to sing one fan Happy Birthday. They all stopped at various times to thank everyone for their support. They would randomly burst into song.

Then there were these moments that made the entire place erupt in frantic screaming.

The subtle-ish....

And the... less subtle.

This is probably going to sounds horrible, but something that surprised me was how well they can actually sing. I mean, I have heard lots of crap about how they are poor singers, but they're quite extraordinary. I was really quite surprised; their harmonizing was on point, Zayn's high notes were strong, they all sang clearly and were in key.

I hope you all have been having a wonderful summer. I'm desperately trying to ignore the fact that school starts in a month. How can that be?! It seems like summer has just started. I'm not ready for school again! No, no, no, deep breath. I still have a month.

Ta ta for now!!

Favourites of March

Hello Lovelies!

My apologizes for not posting this past Monday. It was one of those really long days that was super tiring and super busy. I was up early to go down to Toronto for a doctor's appointment, I had a big project due and then I had music lessons. I got to the end of the day, fell into bed and thought, "Crap, I didn't post today." But I was too exhausted to get up and write a post.

So today I'm going to post what I meant to post Monday, my March favourites! :)

Superman Earrings

My younger brother bought me these earrings for my 16th birthday last year and I've been loving them this month. I wear them almost every day. I just think they're so cute. It's really, really, really hard to find any sort of super hero earrings so I was very happy to get these. And I think they look really good with my newly dyed dark hair.

Mary Kay Facial Highlighting Pen

So remember last month I said I wasn't going to do anything beauty related? Well, I think maybe I should take that back because I have two beauty/makeup/hair items this month. Haha, so maybe I actual use that stuff more than I thought I did. xD This pen is a magic wand, I swear. It's a little like concealer but not really, because you use it to lighten the dark areas of your face, ie the huge bags under my eyes. This has been incredible this past month as I've been so tired. I just put some of this on in the morning and it looks like I've been asleep for hours and am completely rested and awake.

Argan Hair Oil

So... second beauty thing here. :*). As you know, I recently dyed my hair. The thing about dying your hair is it pretty much turns your hair into straw. It.is.awful. It took me about twenty minutes just to be able to get a hairbrush through it. Then a friend recommended this oil to me. It worked like a charm. It was really easy to use and now my hair resembles hair, not straw.

Stripe-y Fuzzy Toe Socks

These socks are amazing. They are really, really, really comfortable, perfect for lazy/exhausted days. As previously mentioned, I have been dead tired this past month so fuzzy socks are a must have for me. They work well with leggings and because I tend to only wear darker colours or earthy tone colours, they add colour to an outfit. The only kind of crappy thing about them is that they make my feet too big and then they won't fit in my boots. :(

 Cinnamon Heart Scented Candle

I love scented candles. :) The one is really nice because it actually smells quite cinnamon-y and not sickeningly sweet. I don't like candles that smell really sweet. I like outdoorsy, pine type smelling ones. So this one is a bit different, but it leaves my room with a really nice smell so I like it. My mum won it in a Valentine's Day basket but she didn't want it so I took it. >:)

Bengal Spice Tea

I'm not British but I am a huge tea lover. This month I've really been enjoying Bengal Spice. It's a herbal tea which is nice when I don't want the caffeine which means I can drink it right before bed and sleep really well. I don't really know how to describe it. It's kind of creamy, even without milk and it's not spicy, but it tastes like it has spices in it. Wow, I'm doing a terrible job describing this. xD Don't listen to me, just go try some.

5 Seconds of Summer

I did a post on these guys recently here. This month I've been enjoying listening to them. They have an upbeat pop-y sound that's a little rocky. Their new EP came out yesterday in Canada so I was very excited. :) I get to see them in August!!

That's it for this month! What were your guys' favourites this past month?

Song of the Day

I technically can't put this song in my March favourites because I just discovered it yesterday. It's called Human and it's off of Christina Perri's new album Head or Heart. I like the way she talks about the fact she's only human and she'll do her best but she's not invulnerable. She still gets hurt because she's only human. I find it a very relatable song. :)
